Sentient Energy and OnPoint Digital combine forces for electric data analysis

Sentient energy OnPoint

Sentient Energy and OnPoint Digital, both owned by Koch Engineered Solutions, will team up to combine and expand their solution on predictive analytics for electric utilities; the collaboration will bring extensive electrical expertise and deep domain of the sector.

Specifically, the collaboration will combine Sentient’s intelligent grid sensors, with OnPoint’s digital platform, for predictive analysis for electrical outcomes, as well as performance-analytics; environmental and other situational data analysis, to produce a unique tool, valuable for grid operators.

Sentient Energy’s sensors procures high-fidelity waveform data; combined with OnPoint’s CORTEX platform, which leverages and filters these data; solutions provided by both companies will significantly speed up analytics time; they will also create scalable and actionable predictions for scenarios specific to each utility.

For example, actionable, location-specific insights on failures and how to avoid them, it will also enable proactive maintenance before they become outages, and will procure safety, reliability and lower operational and maintenance costs for grid operators and stakeholders.

Sentient and OnPoint solutions with real time monitoring

These solutions will be hand-made for aging infrastructure, widespread deployment of distributed energy resources, extreme weather operations like wildfires and so on. “This complexity requires solutions that allow for data-driven asset management, grid planning, operation, and reliability decisions to effectively address their most pressing grid needs,” company’s statement reads.

Sentient Energy’s Grid Analytics System and OnPoint’s CORTEX performance analytics platform will provide customers with all these solutions in real-time monitoring with alerting, and designing of predictive models and access to the cloud.

In this regard, Brent Youngers, VP of Digital & Analytics at OnPoint, said. “We now have an integrated environment for continuous development and delivery of analytics outcomes; empowering subject matter experts and domain data scientists to build and deliver analytics solutions and iterate faster.

While, Venkat Bahl, Sentient Energy’s Chief Revenue Officer concluded; “We’re already seeing high accuracy predictions of critical equipment failure, days in advance of the actual event. Not only that, the partnership of expert capabilities between Sentient Energy and OnPoint allows us to also provide performance-based asset condition analysis to our customers.”
