Madrid gives good results by reducing its energy consumption

In Madrid, Spain, the Minister for the Treasury and Economy, Javier Fernández-Lasquetty, emphasized the “good results” of reducing energy consumption. These measures have been applied by the Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso. Also, have been applied for some time now, without the purpose of “turning off Madrid.”

The counselor gave these words during his visit to the town of Miraflores de la Sierra. There, the alleged “unassessed economic impact” for local businesses of the Royal Decree law on energy saving has been denounced. This decree was approved by the central government and could cause the “closure due to the costs associated with compliance.”

I also comment that the community of Madrid has been applying measures in public buildings for some time. On the other hand, it continues to work hand in hand “with the different sectors, with commerce, with industry, and with households, with support and incentive measures.” Every effort has as its primary objective to reduce consumption.

Madrid will be “the only European capital that is compulsorily turned off after ten at night, something that does not happen in the others.”

Fernández-Lasquetty continued his statements. “The Community is going to continue working to make energy use more efficient. But certainly not through prohibitions and impositions, not wanting to turn off Madrid, which is what Pedro Sánchez ultimately wants. A Madrid off, a closed Madrid, sad, in which there is nothing.”

He assures that Spain has no problem with Russian gas but with the one that comes from Algeria. It is so thanks to the fact that it has been prevented from reaching it due to its wrong measures and decisions, according to the counselor.

One of his statements referred to the German socialists and how the Spanish socialists came to learn from them. He went on to say, “so they would realize that the solution is to lower taxes” and “contain public spending, not increase it.”
