GAF Energy completes Solar R&D And Manufacturing Facility

Leading provider of roof-integrated solar solutions, GAF Energy, today announced it completed construction at its new 112,000-square-foot facility in San Jose, California. Accordingly, this new facility will serve as the company’s center for research and development and manufacturing.

The company also announced it is continuing to hire for positions at the facility in clean energy manufacturing and associated jobs.

Reception and comments at GAF Energy and San Jose, CA

Per the announcement, Martin DeBono, president of GAF Energy, said; “We’re pleased to have completed the build-out of our facility ahead of schedule.”

This is also “the next step in delivering a reliable, durable, attractive, and easy way to install a solar roof to market.”

Similarly, DeBono commented that GAF Energy currently has “the ability to scale a next-generation, cutting-edge solar product.”

Particularly, he noted, this will continue to be the case with the company’s new facility.

On the other hand, Assemblymember Ash Kalra commented per the announcement; “I’m happy to welcome GAF Energy to our South San Jose community.”

Kalra also pointed out that “creating green jobs and expanding access to renewable energy is instrumental to a sustainable and equitable future.”

Lastly, San José Mayor Sam Liccardo commented on the completion of construction of the facility. Therefore, he noted that the city is now looking at the on-shoring of hundreds of clean energy employment opportunities; particularly, in development, manufacturing, and administrative support.

Besides, the Mayor noted this construction is happening “at a critical juncture for our local economy.”

Liccardo similarly said that the solar roofing jobs will contribute to the vitality of the community’s green energy industry in Silicon Valley. Finally, he expressed his support to GAF Energy for expanding and investing in San Jose.

GAF Energy said it particularly designed its current product to provide an attractive, low-profile alternative to rack-mounted solar panels; indeed, these are typically drilled through the roof’s shingles.
