Power Sustainable launches $1B investment platform to expand renewables in N.A

Power Sustainable Capital Inc., a Quebec-based and multiplatform energy manager, has launched an investment platform for the expansion of renewable energy projects all across North America.

The initial amount of the investment is of $1 billion, exclusively dedicated to the renewable energy sector. Investment will be executed through two subsidiaries of Power Sustainable: Potentia Renewables and Nautilus Solar Energy.

From these operators and developers, the company will invest in the development, construction and operation of new renewable energy assets all across North America. The investment platform also includes partners like Desjardins Group, Great West Lifeco, and the National Bank of Canada.

“This is a landmark moment for Power Sustainable, and the first of several projects we intend to bring to the sustainable investment marketplace in the coming years. This new and unique partnership approach leverages decades of sound investment practices and is a true alignment of convictions from all parties involved,” said Olivier Desmarais, Power Sustainable’s CEO.

Overall, the partnership and the investment are aimed to create new opportunities to buy high-quality renewable energy assets. This would provide a fertile floor to job creation and capital expenditures for the sector in North America.

According to the company’s statement, the investment platform will be guided by the ESG principles, and inclusion, diversity and good governance values. In this regard, Guy Cormier, President and CEO of Desjardins Group, said: “Sustainable development is in Desjardins Group’s DNA.”
