Cheniere Energy, the leading producer and exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the United States, announced this Thursday the appointment of two new members for its Board of Directors; both are renowned women CEO’s of the energy industry.
Firstly, the appointees were Patricia K. Collawn and Lorraine Mitchelmore to serve as members of the Board; effective July 1, 2021. Both of them will be considered as independent directors.
Secondly, Ms. Collawn has been appointed to the Audit and Compensation Committees; while Ms. Mitchelmore has been appointed to the Audit and Governance and Nominating Committees.
Thirdly, Patricia Collawn currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of PNM Resources, Inc., an energy holding company based in New Mexico. She, in fact, joined PNM Resources in 2007; from the Public Service Company of Colorado, where she served also as CEO.
Moreover, Collawn has served on the board of directors of Equitrans Midstream Corporation, since April 2020; previously, she served on the board of directors of CTS Corporation. She also served as Chairman of the Electric Power Research Institute; and Chairman of the Edison Electric Institute. She is a Harvard graduate from Business School.

Cheniere Energy to advance ESG goals with appointments
On the other hand, Lorraine Mitchelmore has over 30 years of international oil and gas industry experience. Most recently, she served as President and CEO of Enlighten Innovations Inc., a Calgary-based clean technology company.
In addition, she has also a curriculum in major oil company Shell, where she is the former Executive Vice President, Americas Heavy Oil; and Former Shell Canada Limited President and Canada Country Chair.
Furthermore, she also served on the board of directors of Suncor Energy, Inc., since 2019; and the Bank of Montreal since May 2015. Ms. Mitchelmore also previously served on the board of directors of TransMountain Corporation.
About the appointments, Andrea Botta, Cheniere’s Chairman of the Board, said. “Their respective decades of relevant experience; leading large organizations in the energy industry bring significant capabilities and also diversity to our Board. Patricia and Lorraine’s demonstrated expertise in driving improvement in environmental; and sustainability performance.”
Finally, she remarked. “Their presence will further enhance our ESG programs, integration of our climate strategies; and will also strengthen our competitive advantages as we continue to position Cheniere as a reliable, growing liquefaction operator.”
